NAY PYI TAW, 20 March 2014 – The 9th Meeting of the Sub-Committee on Rules of Origin for the ASEAN-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership (AJCEP) was held on 20 March 2014 in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.
All Parties agreed to adopt the amendments to the ASEAN version of the Certificate of Origin Form ASEAN-Japan (CO Form AJ) in line with the 25th AFTA Council’s decision in 2011 on the abolishment of the Free on Board (FOB) value in the CO Form, except when the originating criterion used is Regional Value Content (RVC). This will be implemented on 1 October 2014, with 6 months transition period until 31 March 2015. A grace period of two years shall be given to Cambodia and Myanmar.
Despite the deletion of “net weight” in Box 9 of the ASEAN version of the CO Form AJ, ASEAN and Japan will continue to accept CO’s which indicate net weight in Box 9.
